I've been thinking about making some magic items either as treasure found by the PCs, or given as a reward when a quest is completed. Keeping in mind that AoS is low magic/high fantasy, I'll try to keep the items minor or medium enhanced.
Bows/Crossbows: 1) runes with Fire Arrow and either Pierce 1 or Pierce 2. 2: Also Speed Dart with Pierce 1 or Pierce 2. Could give a higher Pierce rating (3,4, or 5), as the highest armour normally would be Mail Hauberk (AP5 plus Upgrades: AP+1) for a total of AP6. But Pierce 3 to 5 might be considered overkill (maybe). Personally, I'd go Pierce 3, MAYBE 4, but these I'd consider MAJOR items. I thinking that Befuddle or Slow could be runes put on a bow/crossbow. Might be interesting.
Blades: Fire Blade plus Pierce 1 or 2. Also Pierce 1 or 2 with Weapon Enhance 1 or 2.
As you can see, I'm keeping the enhancements to magnitude 1 or 2, as magnitude 3, 4 or 5 would create overkill.

Co-ordination spell (p38) states that 'The characteristic can be increased above normal racial maximum for the duration of the spell'.
I'm guessing that the duration is ten minutes as per the Spell Traits section on p37?

My own vision for 'runes of power' (as described in the CG) was for items that mainly boosted skills/stats ever so slightly, or allowed for weapons/armour to cause/prevent slightly more damage than usual (hence them mostly applying to the magnitude one versions of the spells listed). This allows for such things as an elven cloak with a runic pattern woven into its fabric - that grants a +10% to stealth based deception tests, or a helm inscribed with protective runes - giving it an additional +1 AP bonus (both of which function continually at the expense of 1 MP loss to the user). So that's the kind of thing that I'm personally including in the default setting (with regard to runes of power) ...however, as I say, that is only 'my vision' for the game ...and the whole low magic/high fantasy outlook (mixed in with mostly 'dark-age' technology) can of course be adhered to as strictly or loosely as you desire. For example you could decide to include: Plate armour (includes upgrades) / AP 7 / ENC 11 Heavy Crossbow / damage 2d6 / range 150m / load 3 / Str/Dex 9/9 / Enc 2 Light Crossbow / damage 1d8 / range 125m / load 2 / STr/Dex/ 5/9 / Enc 1 ...if you like (perhaps as the latest dwarven technology) - though they're not in the 'default' setting. ...oh, and yes, co-ordination has the default duration (wow ...I do have a tendency to go on a bit don't I )

Thanks for the info. Plate mail AP6, BV? (3500?) or maybe 4000 BV?
Crossbows are in most fantasy settings. I noticed they weren't included in AoS. Could make them Dwarf use only, or maybe Dwarf & Human only? Also the BV of the light & heavy crossbow? I'm guessing 200 BV: Hvy crossbow, 140 BV: Lt crossbow?

Yeah, plate armour and crossbows didn't really fit all that well with the dark-age technology level.
Though I suppose there are other weapons that made the list that might not fit in all that well either - but I included them anyway, as I see them being representative of some of the cruelly shaped weapons used by the enemy.
But generally speaking, a soldier with a broadsword (for want of a better description), shield (and maybe a spear too) in a mail hauberk and helm is your ultimate warrior in the AoS.
...but should you want to include them: Plate Armour = 9,000 BV Heavy crossbow = 350 BV Light crossbow = 150 BV

Thanks for the info. I MIGHT add the Light Crossbow as a Dwarf only weapon.
