It's been a long time coming (or at least it feels that way), but the Campaign Guide is now available (for $2.99). Here's a link to the Blog post for more information: crookedstaff.blogspot.com/2011/08/age-of-shadow-new-releases.htmlIf you check that post you'll also see that the main rule book has had a very minor update (though not to the rules), and the website has had a few new articles added too. Anyway, hopefully that's a bit of good news on an otherwise dull Monday afternoon

Yeah, in the end I decided on making it a commercial product (rather than another freebie), though with a price tag of less than £2 ...I'm hoping it's one that'll not break the bank However (and this applies to everyone), if you are one of those people that registered with the forum in the last year (i.e. before July 2011), and posted in the AoS section during that time (and thus helped me either directly or indirectly get the project finished - even if it was only with a few kind words), then I will send you a code for a (free) review copy of the book (though no review is actually necessary). All you need do is drop me a PM with the e-mail address that you would like to code/link sent to. hopefully that's a bit of good news

Wow, that's very generous, Kris! As someone who always clamoured for more detail to the setting as a starting point for the games in this world, I think I qualify I will take you up on your offer. As a thank you i will do a mini review (as soon as i find the time) on my fantasy blog (it's in german, but I still think it might gather you some interest as a lot of german gamers read and play english games). Cheers Anglachel

Cool. Just picked this up. Nice work! Now you just need to offer a combined print version.... ;D

Rest assured that I'm looking into PoD (print on demand) options for the AoS books ...however, I'm afraid that more news on that will have to wait until I've actually got something in my grubby little hands

I bought the campaign guide yesterday @ Drivethru for £1.87. A cheap price for a good guide (worth it). The map on pages 12&13 is quite good. Nice open areas on the map for home made towns, etc. I've seen the cost for the printed version of the main rulebook (£7.51 B&W). I guessing that a colour version would be £10+? Even more if the 2 books are added together?
All in all, a good supplement. :-)

Thanks for the kind words.
Indeed, a colour interior does appear to increase the printing cost of the book substantially - but I really don't think that the main rulebook warrants it.
The campaign guide on the other hand (should I choose to go the POD route with that too*) does deserve a colour interior, but since it's a lot smaller I'm hoping it wouldn't cost too much (I would hope no more than the B&W main rulebook).
*I'll have more info on that if/when it happens.

Also it seems I don't have the option to print A4 sized books in colour

Perhaps an idea would be to print both books (B&W) and the maps in colour? Although I have printed (in colour) the maps in both books (the 2 page map in the campaign guide I used selotape to put them together). It seems passable.

I've just received confirmation that A4 colour books are not available in print via RPGNow etc. (at least not at this time) - which is a little disappointing to say the least.
However, I'm looking at other ways of getting the Campaign Guide done in colour (even if it costs a little more) ...so I should have an update on that by the end of the week (with any luck).

Hi Kris, The campaign guide preview on lulu looks great and I have looked through the rules as well. This looks really terrific! I'll still probably use my RQ with it but might port some of the more innovative bits, like the magic section. Now to scrape together some change to by the guide!
