After making dark elves for Myth & Magic and my own system, etc, I decided to make a dark elf profile for Age of Shadows. Hopefully this profile might prove helpful. Attachments:

One thing I forgot to mention, was the possible aversion to light they might have. Shadow Elves begin their raids, etc about dusk, but feel more comfortable when the sun sets.
If they are exposed to light (the light spell for example), two things could possibly happen: 1: all actions are at -10%, -15%, or -20% for 1-2 turns, maybe even 3 turns. 2: They are blinded for 1-2 or possibly 3 turns, making them vulnerable.
Just an idea.

Hello again Remember when I said that I was thinking of setting up a submissions page on the website? ...well, as an experiment, I've added a submissions page to the wiki - which should mean that folks can add their own material/house-rules at their leisure. If you wanted to check it out, you'll find a link to the submission pages on the left hand side of the wiki: ageofshadow.wikidot.comNote that I've set it up so that folks will have to 'join' the wiki to add anything though - so that only the creator (and admins) of a particular page can go on to edit/delete/move that page at a later date (just as an added security measure - just so that some random idiot doesn't come along and delete everything). So, if you ever get time, I'd love to see some of your creations/additions make it on to the wiki

I know it's been 4.5 years since our last discussion concerning 'Dark elves/Shadow elves', but I found a sheet of paper with a reply from you (can't seem to find it here). SHADOW ELVES: If you’re looking to include a separate drow-like race, then the rules you’ve suggested seem well suited to doing just that. But if you’re looking for other options to simulate their ‘light sensitivity’ you could keep it very similar to what you have now; but maybe include a Resilience save? Then have a success result in no penalty, a failure result in a -25% penalty, and fumble result in temporary blindness. However, my own take on dark elves in the AoS setting (though I prefer your ‘Shadow elves’ term much better , would be those individual elves that have succumbed to the will of the dark powers (perhaps as a result of studying foul magics, being ensnared in some evil which they cannot escape, or their own will so utterly broken so that they are little more than ruined & corrupted mockeries of their former selves) – a good example of which would be the ‘the dark elf of Rengast’ from the East Eyrie booklet. In game terms these would be regular elves that possess a corruption that has exceeded their POW score (rather than being a race apart) – though outward signs of their ‘corruption’ will be plain to see (haggard countenance and hunched posture for example). To put it in familiar terms; a lot of fantasy settings hint at the fact that orcs were bred from corrupted elves (or something very similar). In the Age of Shadow these ‘dark elves’ would be very much alike to those first ruined elves. So (in my own head), dark elves would be very few in number at the current time, and be particularly despised by others of their kind. In addition they might also rise to positions of power within the ranks of the enemy – making them ideal BBEG material But, as I say, that’s just my take on ‘dark elves’ within the Age of Shadow setting. So folks should feel free to use/ignore it as they see fit What caught my attention, was the term 'BBEG' (Big Bad Evil/Elven Guy?). Also; any other AoS products on their way?

Yeah, it's hard to believe that the AoS book has been around for some time now, and one of the BBEGs (big bad evil guy) in my (infrequent) campaign is shaping up to the the Dark Elf of Rengast ...though my players have only heard the name thus far, and had a few run-ins with his minions that have made their way south into the Northern Kingdom after opening up one of the old dwarf tunnels that runs beneath the mountains (more on this later). Regarding new products... Work has begun on the next two hex-maps... though I've only got a little bit of each one done (i.e. the parts I needed for a few games of my own). Here's a sneak peek: And I've also got a couple or articles done for the next zine. I've also been play-testing some encounters/material from my upcoming 'dungeon' book (which I might also convert to 5E D&D) for the past couple of months ...which can be used to represent the old dwarven settlements/tunnels mentioned above. Plus, most of the stuff I release on RPGNow is usually AoS themed - so my latest 'village' map-pack is meant to represent the style of human settlements in the Northern Kingdom (though I've yet to write a blog article explaining this). So yeah, lots of plans ...but so little time to get them all finished
