What is the maximum percentage a starting character can put on a skill?
My friend created an elf mage with high Close skill of 80%, but wanted to go as high as 95%-100%, as none of us could find anything about the maximum percentage he could start with?
Did we miss anything? Help Appreciated.

There isn't a upper limit as such ...but on p10 it states that when assigning skill points 'no more than 30 points can be allocated to any one skill.' For example, a character with a STR of 18 and a DEX of 18 (i.e. the maximum) would have a base score of 36 for his/her Close Combat skill. That player could then assign a maximum of 30 points (from their allotment of 50 points for 'combat' skills) to that - for a total of 66. Finally, if the character is an elf, he/she can spend his/her single background points on the same skill - for a total of 74 (if the player rolls the maximum on 2d4). (If using the optional rule at the bottom of page 10 the player could get this score even higher, though this severely limits the characters other skills) Hope that helps

Yes, it does help. ;D Nuts! Looks like we missed something there. When I see him next, I'll make sure he's calculated his skills correctly as per p10. Many thanks.
